How long does Twitch keep your VODs?
Twitch saves your stream as a past broadcast, then deletes it. How long it stays depends on your account. Here are the numbers from Twitch’s own help pages, and how to keep the moments that matter before the date comes.
The short answer
- Most broadcasters: 7 days.
- Twitch Affiliates: 14 days.
- Twitch Partners, and broadcasters with Turbo or Prime: 60 days.
After that, the past broadcast is deleted. If you stream in Dual Format or 2K, Twitch says the vertical or 2K version expires after 7 days, even when the main version stays longer.
Past broadcasts only exist if they are switched on. In your Creator Dashboard stream settings, turn on Store past broadcasts before you go live.

What lasts longer than a past broadcast
Highlights and uploads are not on the 7, 14 or 60 day clock. Twitch keeps them within a storage limit it sets in the same guide. If a stream had a part worth keeping, turning it into a highlight before the past broadcast expires is the simplest way to save it on Twitch.

Keep the moment, not just the file
A two-hour VOD is a backup. Most viewers never watch one back. The part that grows a channel is the 30 seconds that made chat explode, and the time to post it is while the stream is still on.

- Turn on Store past broadcasts, or there is nothing to save.
- Download any broadcast you want to keep.
- Turn the strongest parts into highlights, which last longer.
- Clip the moments live and download them, so you are never racing a deletion date.
